unbootable disks

When I bought my computer from a Korean retail store couple years ago, it gave me two CD's : WinXP English and WinXP Korean. However, when i change my BIOS so that it boots from a CD, it only says "disk unbootable." Can you please tell me what makes a disk unbootable and what makes a disk bootable?

i installed windows for a korean family once (forget version). i remember i had to boot and install winxp english first. before installing any software, click on the setup.exe on the korean cd to install the korean updates. view the readme on the korean cd.
