Alright the other OS poll was windows biased, because 90% of people have only seen non windows maybe twice.

Please respond only if you have experience in more than one platform (and experience means more than just seeing it in compusa or on your cousins computer...)

My Pick is OSX or BeOS on desktop and linux on servers :)

EDIT:
DAMN YOU PEOPLE....dont vote if you only know windows....defies the purpose of this poll :D
Plus there no way people that work with more than just windows like windows. I have xp on my main machine, but its definatelly not my fave os...

XP is great. In the computer labs I routinely use Macs (OS X only), linux boxes, and sparcs. I don't really like solaris but the most kick a$$ electrical / computer engineering tools run on them, and the macs feel slow (they're G4 800 imacs I think) and I can't deal with one mouse button. I like a lot of stuff about OS X though.

When possible, I prefer to use X forwarding and use the *nix apps on my XP box using putty and xwin32 ;)

I've had linux on other boxes, and it makes a great server OS / toy, but its not for general use IMHO.

I will have to go with Linux, although at home I stick with XP.
A couple of years back my vote would have gone to HP-UX. 10 years ago it would have gone to NeXT Step, whose appeal now returns as the Mac OS-X.

OSX would probably be my choice, were it faster. As it stands, XP is my choice, but RH 8.1 is pretty damned decent as well.

Honestly I like anything that doesn't take up system resources. Thus DOS gets my vote. I only wish more programs would be made that can run in DOS. Oh well, the times of getting the best performance out of your computer are over. I routinely use several versions of UNIX and honestly they provide nothing that Windows doesn't. And Windows does so much more. The day you can buy any software and any hardware and have it working immediately on Linux is the day I'll vote Linux.

I know OS X, OS 9, all versions of Windows, DOS, Linux, Novell, etc

OS X is my favorite.

I use Windows because I am required to. Work requires it. Games that I want to play require it. So by that, it is my "favorite".

I would love to try *nix/*BSD and see how it would preform for the same functions, but they don't exist.

Windows, but only 2000/XP. NT4 was ok. The rest of them can suck it.
I like to play around with Solaris, but I always come back to windows.
I really want to like OS X, but in administering the 6 in my office, I have come across some bizarre and frustrating problems. I like the GUI, I like the BSD kernel. I hate that it does stupid crap that an OS so long in the making really shouldn't do.
