Unbelievable tenant

This is outrageous.

So for a few weeks I've been having this issue with a tenant. He apparently claims that he paid me March's rent money, in the amount of $2500. He showed me where he even had it withdrawn from his account, and the check image with my signature on it. I initially didn't think he paid me, but when I saw his check with my signature on it, I all of a sudden remembered that he did pay me, I signed it, and attempted to deposit it. The thing is, I don't know where it is now! My wife took it and I think she lost it, because she didn't come back with it when she went to go deposit it. She did have a really nice fur coat though.

What do you think OP; he paid me and the funds were taken out because I signed the check and it got lost and someone else deposited it (or maybe I did deposit it in my separate Chase account, there are just too many things to keep track of lately!).

This is his responsibility, right? He all of a sudden thinks I should take care of this, like it's my fault. Maybe he should just pay me again so that I can have my money.
