Unbelievable but true

I got my P3 700 cbo yesterday and was very disapointed when I t could only reach 812 MHz. After many atempts and a reformat I still had no luck.
then I decided to try a golden orb instead of my modified monster alpha heat sink with global win fan. Lo an behold, I went right to 124 Mhz. then I realized that my first two memory slots werent blocked by the gorb like the huge alpha had done. I put my pc133 ram in the first slot on my p3v4x and only got 126 mHz instead of 124 MHz🙁. Then I tried my siemens Pc100 cas2 ram, now I m running on a 131 bus=917 MHz!
Unbelievable!

how agressive are you memory timings? the pc133 may not like being run at cas2. Even some good sticks, like hte HSDRAM 150mhz stuff will usually not run at anything lower than the 3-2-2 its is pre designated to run at.
