Unauthorized network card

So I have an old Lenovo SL500. It does everything I want it to do so I haven't found a need to replace it yet. I snagged a little wireless N miniPCIE card from monoprice to replace the G adapter in the unit.

This guy:

Laptop boots up and I get an error saying, "unauthorized network adapter connected, remove adapter"

I didn't know a network adapter could be unauthorized. Second, is there anyway around this? I highly doubt it, but I figured I'd see if anyone has encountered this before.

Lenovo white-lists network cards in their Bios. There are bios's floating around the internet which remove that limit.

Yeah no luck so far. SL500 is quite old at this point and was one of the cheaper Lenovos at the time. Probably not much interest. I'll just snag an equally cheap usb wireless n adapter.
