Excellent piece. I would love to hear it debunked by the TM supporters.
It's in fact the best article I've read since this verdict.

The civil-rights establishment's mistake was to get ahead of itself, to be seduced by its own poetic truth even when there was no evidence to support it. And even now its leaders call for a Justice Department investigation, and they long for civil lawsuits to be filed—hoping against hope that some leaf of actual racial victimization will be turned over for all to see. This is how a once-great social movement looks when it becomes infested with obsolescence.

From the article:
One wants to scream at all those outraged at the Zimmerman verdict: Where is your outrage over the collapse of the black family? Today's civil-rights leaders swat at mosquitoes like Zimmerman when they have gorillas on their back. Seventy-three percent of all black children are born without fathers married to their mothers. And you want to bring the nation to a standstill over George Zimmerman?

Indeed.

Where are the outrage for the slaugters in Chicago recently? Where are the outrage for blacks killing blacks almost daily (especially young males - as victims and perps)? Where are the outrage for black students failing at schools, standardized tests, teenage pregancies, in prison/on probabtion? And so on and on....where are all of the outrage for self inflicted wounds within their own by their own (mostly)?

I'm really beginning to believe the DOJ statements are just a show to calm certain factions.

On 7/19 it was reported that they put a hold on the evidence including GZ's gun

http://tv.msnbc.com/2013/07/19/doj-...gun-as-it-pursues-civil-rights-investigation/

Yet the Seminole County court docket for the case shows that the evidence was released days earlier (7/16 & 7/17).

http://www.seminoleclerk.org/CriminalDocket/case_detail.jsp?CaseNo=592012CF001083A
the Seminole County court docket's info is incorrect possibly ...... (which doesn't surprise me ... as mistakes can occur anywhere ... this is a special case though .. "they were going to release .. but Feds stepped in and put the "breaks" on it ... however court didn't update the info .. something like that)

.. cuz new / fresh article says:

-------

Sanford police deliver George Zimmerman case evidence to FBI

Sanford police confirmed that within the last hour they had delivered boxes of evidence from their investigation into George Zimmerman to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Orlando office.

Capt. Jim McAuliffe said the delivery — which includ(e)s the gun used the night Trayvon Martin was fatally shot — was shipped off to the federal agency at their request.

Not that it really matters, GZ can purchase another gun as he has nothing on his record that would prevent a successful background check. I'm also sure that his concealed weapons permit has been reinstated since his acquittal as well.

Yes ... he can ... -- but if really wants it, maybe won't even need to (buy it with his own money) ... as others now offered to buy a gun for him ... :D

George Zimmerman: Juror E-54 on 'Hannity,' town hall on CNN

By Hal Boedeker
Staff writer
2:03 p.m. EDT, July 22, 2013

The attention to the George Zimmerman verdict continues Monday night on cable. There's sure to be discussion about reports that Zimmerman helped rescue a family from an overturned SUV last week.

Zimmerman was acquitted of murder in Trayvon Martin's fatal shooting.

Juror E-54, an alternate, gives his first national interview to Sean Hannity. "Hannity" airs at 9 on Fox News Channel.

E-54 is the juror who talked to Valerie Boey of Fox-owned WOFL-Channel 35 last week. "He [E-54] supports the verdict and believes the jury did their job," Boey said. "He wishes the country would just accept the verdict. He hopes we can come together for the sake of peace. He believes this was not a racial case."

Boey said that E-54 was protective and proud of the six women who reached the verdict.

Anderson Cooper offers a new town hall on race and the Zimmerman verdict at 10 on CNN.

Who should play whom in the Trayvon Martin movie?

By Adrienne Cutway, Orlando Sentinel
9:25 a.m. EDT, July 22, 2013
Now that George Zimmerman’s murder trial is over, it may not be long before some sort of biopic hits the small screen. Lifetime did it with “Prosecuting Casey Anthony” and “Jodi Arias: Dirty Little Secret” so it’s very likely the network will want to cash in on the Trayvon Martin-Zimmerman story as well, or at the very least we’ll see some sort of "Law & Order" episode.

“Prosecuting Casey Anthony,” which featured Rob Lowe as Jeff Ashton and Virginia Welch as Casey Anthony, aired on Lifetime in 2013, about two years after she was acquitted in the death of her daughter. Because Lifetime couldn’t acquire the rights to Anthony’s story, the movie focused entirely on the trial and the publicity surrounding it.

Now that Anthony has filed for bankruptcy and is being ordered to pay $25,000 to settle the dispute over ownership of her life rights, it’s possible a more-telling version of her story could come out in the next year or two. Anthony’s trustee Stephen L. Meininger has already had a $10,000 offer for the life rights, which could help Anthony pay off her substantial debt.

Whether a similar situation will unfold with Zimmerman is impossible to predict, but since his financial woes were made very public during the trial he could be more willing to sell out. Conversely, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton could decide to work with a producer to immortalize the life of their son in a biopic. As a preemptive measure, we’ve put together a star-studded list of the potential cast. Click through our gallery to see who we think would be best fit for the flick.

EDIT: link is dead, here is a new link to the video:

http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/video/us/2013/07/22/nr-zimmerman-truck-rescue.cnn.html

here is a link to the article at CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/2013/07/22/us/florida-zimmerman-vehicle/index.html?hpt=hp_c3

A CNN producer contacted the defense team and she verified with them that Zimmerman talked at length with them on Friday and he did not mention anything about the rescue of the family form the truck.

Keep in mind this happened last Wednesday.

So that blows away the insane stupidity from the anti-Zimmerman people out there tweeting/posting how this was some sort of publicity stunt.

The CNN producer specifically stated that the only reason anybody (including O'Mara and West) is even hearing about this is because of the Sheriff's Public Information Office.

Excellent article. Thanks. Here's a few quotes from it I particularly liked.

Today's black leadership pretty much lives off the fumes of moral authority that linger from its glory days in the 1950s and '60s. The Zimmerman verdict lets us see this and feel a little embarrassed for them. Consider the pathos of a leadership that once transformed the nation now lusting for the conviction of the contrite and mortified George Zimmerman, as if a stint in prison for him would somehow assure more peace and security for black teenagers everywhere. This, despite the fact that nearly one black teenager a day is shot dead on the South Side of Chicago—to name only one city—by another black teenager.

The Zimmerman/Martin tragedy has been explosive because it triggered a fight over authority. Who gets to say what things mean—the supporters of George Zimmerman, who say he acted in self-defense, or the civil-rights establishment that says he profiled and murdered a black child? Here we are. And where is the authority to resolve this? The six-person Florida jury, looking carefully at the evidence, decided that Mr. Zimmerman pulled the trigger in self-defense and not in a fury of racial hatred.

And here, precisely at the point of this verdict, is where all of America begins to see this hollowed-out civil-rights establishment slip into pathos. Almost everyone saw this verdict coming. It is impossible to see how this jury could have applied the actual law to this body of evidence and come up with a different conclusion.

"This is how a once-great social movement looks when it becomes infested with obsolescence." Now that's profound!

Why? Because I quoted when he said "whitey"!

On the contrary I get along with all races.

Even served in the military for this predominately white country shortly after 9/11.
It has nothing to do with the "whitey" quote. It has to do with your implication that GZ is hiding because he's scared shitless of black people.

The only reason GZ has to keep a low profile is because of the moronic mob mentality demonstrated by the emotionally charged, intellectually deficient ignoramuses of all races in this country who can't come to a reasonable conclusion based on the known facts. Please note that I used the word "reasonable" in the previous sentence.

Its a PR stunt because people need it to be, less they be forced to jump off the cliff of lies they've been marched up. It's high from up there and getting down is no easy task.
