No one knew what really happened and you can't just take everyone at their word.
What made Zimmerman so special that he could avoid arrest and prosecution.
If you don't believe race played a part in that then you are sadly mistaken.
If someone killed your loved one you would want a trial of the killer if nothing else to find out what really happened.
Whether a person did kill someone justifiably or not should be for a jury to decide. Not the police when there are no witnesses to the killing.
The police and state's attorneys take an oath to uphold the US Constitution and the laws of the state where they serve. They should not chose what laws to follow.776.032 Immunity from criminal prosecution and civil action for justifiable use of force.—
(1)  A person who uses force as permitted in s. 776.012, s. 776.013, or s. 776.031 is justified in using such force and is immune from criminal prosecution and civil action for the use of such force, unless the person against whom force was used is a law enforcement officer, as defined in s. 943.10(14), who was acting in the performance of his or her official duties and the officer identified himself or herself in accordance with any applicable law or the person using force knew or reasonably should have known that the person was a law enforcement officer. As used in this subsection, the term "criminal prosecution" includes arresting, detaining in custody, and charging or prosecuting the defendant.
(2) A law enforcement agency may use standard procedures for investigating the use of force as described in subsection (1), but the agency may not arrest the person for using force unless it determines that there is probable cause that the force that was used was unlawful.
(3) The court shall award reasonable attorneys fees, court costs, compensation for loss of income, and all expenses incurred by the defendant in defense of any civil action brought by a plaintiff if the court finds that the defendant is immune from prosecution as provided in subsection (1).

It's explained in part by the literacy level of the nation not being what it used to be.I can't believe this thread is still going and people are still arguing in favor of TM.
It's called picking a fight and getting your ass whipped.
George put his hands on Trayvon and subsequently got his ass whipped. Then pussy ass George pulled a gun in a fist fight that George started by putting his hands on and grabbing Trayvon.

She was the ONLY living witness to the events of that night other Zimmerman. Therefore they should have taken her account into consideration.
She seemed VERY credible on the events of that night in question.
Prosecution was a joke! They fucked up many times!
If GZ initiated the attack and started losing...syg says he can shoot. But the defense did NOT use syg.
Did you miss a few pages of this thread?

Not true. There were many witnesses, some that observed Zimmerman and Martin after Pinniocchio hung up the phone to fix her hair. John, for example. Why are you discounting his testimony?
Ever consider it was a dog of a case?
We are writing to clearly state the ACLU’s position on whether or not the Department of Justice (DOJ) should consider bringing federal civil rights or hate crimes charges as a result of the state court acquittal in the George Zimmerman case. Even though the Supreme Court permits a federal prosecution following a state prosecution, the ACLU believes the Double Jeopardy Clause of the Constitution protects someone from being prosecuted in another court for charges arising from the same transaction. A jury found Zimmerman not guilty, and that should be the end of the criminal case.
Looks like the ACLU doesn't support any further prosecution of GZ by the Feds.
