No, we are asking whether someone who admitted guilt and was convicted of a felony assault of a police officer should have been able to have a gun, much less a CC permit. The fact that it's a technicality that allows him to is strange.

Wait a minute. Why is it that I always read in the news that these charges were dropped, yet posters here keep talking about "convicted of a felony"?

What did I miss?

Why do you keep defending this murderer? Are you related to him? Are you him? Like spidey07, you continually fabricate things and claim them to be facts. Why?

I'm not defending him. I'm simply trying to understand the situation.

apparently the police felt that his crime was minor enough to allow for this plea deal without too many consequences. There are a lot of factors and it is a judgement call and I"m sure they did it for a reason.

on the face of it, a guy who gets in a drunken shoving match with a cop when he arrives to break up a kegger is a momentary idiot but not evil.

Just shows he may have a short fuse and bad reasoning skills.

Alkemyst, is your entire line of reasoning that you should act subservient to avoid violence? That's like telling battered woman to listen to their man and then they wouldn't be subjected to violence. The kid did not deserve death even if he did talk back to the creepy psycho.

His subservience would not forgive the act that this man performed on him, but it would have kept him alive.

You do not reason with a bear about how it is unfair she is attacking you when it was her cubs that chased you around.

This guy wasn't a bear, but I think he was probably just as reasonable.

The policeman had to file charges, so he thought it was a big enough deal. The judge for whatever reason gave him the plea deal.

Activist judge :)

in hindsight perhaps they shouldn't have dropped t hose charges. But at the time i (not knowing what happened) i would think the prescuter knows best.

I really have no issue with it.

As for any past legal blemishes, he was once arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer when he interfered in a friend’s arrest. The charge was reduced to simple battery, and he entered a plea that allowed him to have a clean record and qualify for a concealed weapons permit
.

So the felony was actually dropped then? So he pled guilty to a misdemeanor? No felony charge at all?

that's what it looks like. wich does not surprise me as that happens often. a person is arrested for something and if they plead guilty they get a far less penalty.

So why are posters referring to him as a convicted felon who can't carry a pistol? :D

Activist judge. Probably plead disorderly conduct or similar.

I still don't have an answer as to why the family and lawyers aren't releasing any current pics of this kid.

The one where he has his hoodie on could be very current, he may just have a babyface.

I'm a bit mystified. What is the big deal here over this case? It seems to have proceeded in the normal orderly fashion to a Grand Jury.

The police investigated, gave the report to the DA, the DA put it in front of the Grand Jury.

Is it that Zimmerman was not arrested immediately?

Even if they had done so, with his wounds, the charge likely would not have been murder. He'd have made bail, and we'd be pretty much right where we are now anyway.

It makes much more sense to have a thorough investigation and go through the Grand Jury process.

It's fairly easy to get a GJ to refer charges.

I suspect they will do so.

Maybe the shoddy police work, lying about the 911 tapes by police, not drug testing shooter, etc.
Lots to be upset about.

At the 2:21 mark, Zimmerman clearly says the words “fucking coons” under his breath...

I would love to hear the unedited tape... why do the police continue to try and cover up for this guy...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jL72w4xiTVU

The full unedited tape... can clearly hear him say it at the 2:21 mark... This guy is going to fry I hope...

They are covering for him since he is a Southern "Good old boy", who hates African Americans and is a closet White Supremacist. Some things never change!

Because, after going to the School of Hard Knocks, he got an advanced degree in Thugology and excellent marks in Ghetto Stumping. At the last Black Meeting Treyvon attended he was awarded a 'Thug Life' face tattoo for all his hard work.

His parents don't want you to know about any of this. That be our little secret.

I finally saw what looked like a more recent picture of the kid. I just can't seem to locate it now. His face looked quite a bit more adult than in this one. This is probably a couple years old. I'll try to find the other one I saw.

Get us a current one of Zimmerman if you can. I want to see how fatter and creepier he's become.
