Unable to use BNC cables on my 21" monitor.

I have a 21" ViewSonic P810 and a retail AiW Radeon 9700 Pro. I NEED to use my BNC cables instead of that lousy 15-pin connector so I can stop the wave effect. This huge monitor is meant to run optimally with BNC connectors. The problem is is that when I go to display properties than to the monitor page it's 'X'ed out which means I cannot get into it. I tried FrefreshForce and it did nothing and RefreshLock and it, to, did absolutely nothing. I'm stuck at 60 hertz for all resolutions. Needless to say my eyes are a-hurtin', know what I'm sayin'?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.:)

On BNC, there is no data connection for the Plug&Play trickery. You need to install the .INF monitor "driver" file (not a driver actually, just a description of the monitor's capabilities) provided by its manufacturer, or, if that is unavailable, pick a close match from the selection Windows has built in.

I own two Viewsonic P815 21" monitors and mine can use both the 5 BNC connector and the 15 Pin SVGA connector. Now if you cant get your 5 BNC connector working and you do have a 15 Pin SVGA connector which I am assuming you also have but you say it is unsatisfactory I can tell you that I used to have the same problem with these and other large monitors. You must use a high quality SVGA not VGA 15 pin cable and make sure the cable has the ferrite coil trap or whatever they call it (that cylindrical fat area just behind the connector) and that gets rid of the moire / wavy affect your talking about. Once I started using the higher quality cable I couldnt tell any difference in the quality I was getting at all. One of them uses the 5 BNC and the other SVGA 15 pin connector with the ferrite coil trap and they are side by side with no difference in quality.

I've loaded my monitor drivers to no avail. RefreshForce worked on my MSI GeForce4-Ti4400. Why doesn't it work for my AiW Radeon 9700 Pro?

Whats X'd out? On the "displays" tab you can't get into the monitor property page? (click on the monitor icon)

Weird. Hook up the monitor with the regular svga cable and see if it's recognized. You can also look in the system hardware properties and see what monitor is listed there. It must be some kind of driver issue, methinks. You don't have the voodoo hooked up to the other monitir connector, do you? Not that it should matter but maybe there is a driver conflict. I've used a Dell 1600ht with both connections, nvidia and ati, and had no problems. No waves either. I can't see why you'd get any waves with either card on either connection. Are you running something special? The monitor might be getting flaky?

Something's not right then. I suspect a fubured driver install..maybe something to do with your old card maybe. You might want to use something like driver cleaner and reinstall the drivers.

I've had "monitor properties" greyed out when using a 3DLabs VP880 Pro card. This did not happen with my Nvidia Ti4200 card. In my case, 3DLabs drivers are entirely to blame.

99% chance that ATI's drivers are at fault or not installed properly. Things that are greyed out in Windows I think point to driver problems.

my 2 cents.
