Dell XPS 13, model 9350. 3.5 years old. There is a BIOS update on Dell's site that I wanted to install. Laptop was plugged in and battery is fully charged. But I'm getting an error message that the BIOS cannot be updated because the battery level must be at least 10% and charging. Is this an early warning that the battery is ready for a dirt nap?

You should be able to run Dell Support Assist to see the health of your battery. I think there might also be something in the BIOS to see the battery health as well, but it's been a while since I've looked there.

But yeah, if the Dell BIOS updater doesn't think the battery is charged, that could be a sign the battery has issues. However, my various Dell laptops over the years didn't develop battery issues after that short of a time.

Also, when you want to update the BIOS, make sure to right click on the file, and select run as an administer. I know it threw me off several years ago when I just double-clicked the file to run, and it kept popping up a weird message.

After I began right clicking the file and running it as an administrator, I've had no issues updating the BIOS on my Dell laptops.
