Windows XP doesn't have a built-in "virus check," unless you mean the Malicious Software Removal Tool, which does not run on an ongoing basis. ZoneAlarm should've disabled the Windows Firewall upon installation, since you don't want multiple firewalls running at the same time.
Bigger picture: a website you need to disable your firewall to access? That sounds awfully suspicious. What website are you talking about?
What symptoms occur when you try to access the site? Be specific. Why do the symptoms seem to indicate the firewall or antivirus is blocking your access to the site?Originally posted by: TungFree
it is the windows security alerts shield that shows the firewall active and On I cannot shut it off or get rid of the shield from there. It looks to me like the windows firewall is blocking me from that site.
Are you logged on with an Administrator-class user account when trying to disable services? It says Virus protection is on too and neither wants to turn off, from Control [pannel nor from the right bottom tool bar
