Welp, ever since i built my new computer I am unable to stream class lectures using Windows Media Player (384kps) on my desktop.... The videos start buffering, but crap put at 20-30%.

Here's the setup:

Cable Modem ---> Linksys 4 port Router ---> D-Link Wireless Router ------> (Wired) Desktop / (Wireless) Laptop

My laptop is able to stream the video perfectly, but my desktop cannot. I was originally using the on-board LAN from my nforce2 mobo, but i popped in another ethernet card and im still getting the same result... I also tried a different port on the router and no luck...

Any ideas?

Specs on my rig:

Athlon 2400+ (2.0ghz)
512 PC2100
80gb Maxtor
Radeon 9700
Soltek nforce2 mobo
SMC Ethernet Card
M-Audio Revolution 7.1 Sound Card

Just tried 2 more things...

1) Tried a new ethernet cable, same result
2) Tried it on the other wired computer on the D-Link Router and it worked fine...

hmmmm...

So the desktop has no troubles at all? That would make me think it is indeed your new computer that is having the trouble.

Oddball things I could think of:
Make sure media player is updated and all protocols are selected under network settings. Also set your network speed to T1 or better.
Update NIC drivers.
Copy large files between desktop and laptop to make sure network comm is doing OK.

Media Player is a newer version than the ones on all the other desktops/laptop :)
NIC Drivers are the newest out.
Cant transfer between desktop/laptop since the laptop is unable to browse the network, but desktop/destop is speedy... :(

Check protocol in use. If necessary, eliminate all but one, protocol, such as UDP, then TCP...etc until you find one that works.

These are the items my car currently uses:
1. Client for Microsoft Networks
2. File and Printer Sharing
3. Qos Packet Schedueler
4. Internet Protocol TCP/IP

Only one protocol listed :(

Now im noticing something even stranger...

Its seems that when i use DScaler to watch my digital cable through my video in and m-audio revolution, my entire network card stops working (i.e. i get kicked off the internet) and the only way to get it working is to restart...

WTF is it doing?
