Unable to setup Scan on printer on Windows 8 computer

So I got a new computer at Work and as you know the recent computers all come with Windows 8.

I installed StartIsBack and enabled the built in administrator account and deleted all other accounts on my computer so the Administrator is the only one

now the issue is..

the IT d00d added the network printer form e and it works fine for printing,

then he tried adding that printer's scanning feature from the built in Printer web UI administration, he put my computer name and the username / password correctly and specified that scans from the printer should go to a folder on my computer D : \ scans

when he tries to scan, the printer gives a message no permission even though he has enabled sharing on that scan folder and set the permissions to everyone / read-write

he is telling me he had never had this problem with Windows 7 it must be Windows 8

is there anything special to do here?

is it because I enabled the default Administrator account in Windows 8 or is it something else?

any advice guys?

Given permissions to a Folder on a Computer, enables Access to the Folder Not to the Printer.
Read the printer manual to figure out how to configure the printers Permissions.

P.S. It might be that Network Scanning is blocked by Design on these configuration.

When it comes to scanning, when you move to a new OS, there is no guarantee it will work. If the printer/scanner does not say it is Win8 compatible, then it might not be.

If you are using Word or Excel, then maybe the Microsoft office has a security setting also. We saw this when accessing network drives and running letters with address lists built off a database.

I guess it's Windows 8 compatibility because the guy is saying on Windows 7 with the same settings it works.

The scan folder does have permissions set to everyone = read/write 🙁
