I am using a Dell 1907FP as an external monitor for a laptop. I am mirroring the laptop onto the external monitor (not extending the desktop). Everything works great except for playing video files. When I play them (and I've tried different players--WinDVD, Windows Media, Real player), the player loads on both screens but the video can only be seen on the laptop. On the external monitor I see the player with a dimmed black box only. Any ideas?
I don't want to do the extend the desktop because I don't like two screens next to each other that are not the same size. The video will work if I extend the desktop and drag the video player to the other monitor but then it won't let me change my settings back to mirroring without doing a system restore. Obviously that is a major pain to do everytime I want to watch a video.
