Unable to scan

MotionMan

Lifer
Mac Mini, 2.0 C2D, 4gb RAM, 10.6.2;
HP OfficeJet 7210 All-In-One via ethernet/networked;
I am able to print;
When I try to scan, I get "sorry, scanner could not be initialized (Scanner not found)";
Uninstalled and reinstalled software.

Any thoughts?

Did you do a normal install of OS X on that Mini? Or did you do like a power-user install and deselected printer/scanner/etc. drivers? I know OS X comes bundled with a lot but it might be missing it for that particular one. Just a thought.

Totally standard install.

There was a time I could scan, then it just stopped.

Go to Print & Scan in System Preferences, see what you can do in the "scan" tab. I have not installed the HP software for my USB-connected all in one, just used spotlight on a lark and was very pleased to not have to download and install 300+MB of HP garbageware.

It's worth a try.

Thanks. I will try it when I get home.

Skiing this weekend! 🙂

That worked.

Thanks.

HP software sucks.
