Unable to Renew IP address

After having my neo2 Plat mobo for only a few weeks and having no real issues, now a few have popped up. The one that is really starting to anger me is the nVidia networking port. Originally this was my connection to the outside world since this has the nVidia firewall built in. Then after turing off my computer for the weekend, when I started it on Monday, there was no connection. I rebooted my modem, and tried to renew the IP. Alas, I could not renew the IP and therefore get no connection. After swapping it to the other nic on my mobo, I can now connect to the internet, but not share the connection through my switch since the other port isn't working. Does anyone know if this is something that cna be fixed, or am I looking at RMA'ing this board if I want it working again?

Try removing it and reinstalling it. If that does not work, it's a hardware failure and a RMA will fix it but personally I wouldn't bother as network cards are $10 or less. Shipping will be that much.

The network port is on the motherboard itself. I cannot really remove it without wire snips and a soldering iron. I needed the two network ports, which is why i bought the mobo. I do some ocing and need the room below my cards for air flow and do not want to install a nic if I don't have to.

Well since it seems that you are unaware that the NIC can be switched Off in the Mobo?s BIOS may be there is a Cure.

Make sure that you have the most recent Mobo NIC (LAN) Drivers in a place of your choice on the Hard Drive.

Boot the computer and log to the BIOS, disable the NIC (LAN) in the BIOS.

Enter into Windows safe mode and go to the device manager. Uninstall any LAN related Ghost or rouge NIC installations.

Reboot one time normally with the NIC still Off. (that make Windows think that there is No network and it would clean it self Up). Reboot into the BIOS again switch On the NIC and go through the motion of installing the drivers.

With a little Luck and may be some more knowledge it might work.
