Unable to play .avi files in Media Player 7

When I try and play an .avi file in Windows Media Player 7, it says I dont have the right codec, and then tries to connect to a server. Then i only get audio, no video.

I thought MP7 could play .avi files. If not, can someone recommend a player that will?

You need to install the divx : ) codecs. Then WMP will play those AVIs.
