If while you are attempting to install Windows using the Boot Camp Assistant and you come across this message "Your startup disk cannot be partitioned..."
This has happened to me way too many times, normally I just do a fresh install of 10.6 but now
I have a solution!
1) Start from your Mac OS X Install DVDinsert the disc and hold the C key during startup.
2) From the Utilities menu, choose Disk Utility. Use Disk Utility to partition your Mac OS X volume, creating one large enough for your Windows install.
3) Format such partition in MS-DOS (FAT)
4) Relaunch Boot Camp Assistant, it will automatically skip the partitioning phase
5) Install Windows error free!
Also if you have anything worthy of saving make sure you have a backup. Just because this works for me, does not mean it will go this flawlessly for you.

Hope this helps,
