Unable to open filemaps!

I'm in the process of buying a new computer, but on my current system some weird stuff is going on... when I start up the pc and everything has loaded... I'm unable to open maps! I click on them and the screen kinda refreshes and then nothing happens... about the same time my iexplorerar stopped working and im now forced to use opera... also the 'search' option doesn't work... im forced to use nero to be able to go through file directories and maps

anyone got any idea what this can be? and what i can do about it? i got a pii 350mzh 128mb ram windows 2000 professional...
