"unable to open communications channel" Help

Well, first thought is that either TCP/IP is not installed or the interface that it's bound to is not activated (ie. he is not dialed up)

I think you can get that message if you're going through a socks server that's not up.
 
hmmm, i should of gave more information. Its a dial up line, he just installed the dnet.exe file, we were on icq and he had no problems with his connection. I guess the question is whether or not the client fetched any blocks to start the job.

what happens quite often is that the client is unable to resolve the keyservers domain properly. Try to make him fetch/flush to an IP-address, that usually helps.
