took the hard drive with default lenovo image from my lenovo Y550 laptop and put it in my lenovo s10 netbook. of course the windows 7 image wouldnt load since it was a different laptop.

I used my external dvdrw to boot from a windows xp disc to install it on the netbook and got an error. I didnt know what could cause it, so I took the hard drive out put it on a USB>SATA cable and completely removed the hidden partition (or restore partition) and the main partition and formatted the drive as NTFS.

now, when I boot off the windows xp disc it gets all the way to the point where it finishes loading the initial drivers and blue screens with an error code of 0x0000007B

I have tried to set the bios on the netbook to "compatible" or to "AHCI". neither one matters, I still can never get to the point where I can load windows setup.

any ideas? I cannot think what I am missing.. I doubt there is any kind of jumper on the drive (since it is SATA).

any help would be greatly appreciated!

Windows XP probably won't work unless you can get the driver for the controller. Even without AHCI enable, if the internal SATA controller isn't a standard (which XP had very drivers for anyways) then it's going to 7B. If you try to load Vista or 7, it probably won't do this.
