Unable to install programs?

Some of you might know I've been having problems installing WMP10 from previous threads. I had no idea what was wrong...but I think I do now.

Earlier today I tried to install CS 1.6 but got an error saying I need to be on an administrator account. I checked the user accounts and it listed my user name as an administrator.

CS was installed on my computer (among other things) before the system restore.

Im unable to install anything. anti-spyware, computer games, video players etc..

Why???!!
I'm entering high school in a couple of weeks so I hope you understand my fustration.

Any suggestions?!

if you dont have much important stuff on there.. i'd just reformat (plus it makes things nice and fast, too 😛)

Your virus or internet security app might be blocking installs to "protect" you.

We've had reports at work of some distributed computing tools interfering with installs.

Your Windows could be borked by a virus or trojan.

thats what i thought, but I can't reformat because windows is preloaded. (no disks)

i deleted my other user account and im using a different one and windows seems to be working. Plus I can download stuff.

weird.

any advice will be appreciated.

update: The virus/bug/trojan must be doing something with my connection ports because I cannot access websites that I could before all this started happening..

A quick response will be appreciated because eventually I will not be able to access this forum...

Hmmm, I had something similar happen to me a while back. I had to uninstall a Windows Update, can't remember the number, I believe it was 902400. Try uninstalling that update and see if things work. You can always reinstall it.
