I keep getting an error message when I try to install this software on three different PCs.

During the installation it wouldn't get to 1%, the first error was cabdir.exe file not
having enough hard disk space or the file was in use , i had all other
applications shut off, and i have more then enough disk space, they had an IGNORE option which i tried and it would copy some more files, i got probably 6 more error messages with different file extensions ( after
which i would chose the IGNORE option ) it continued to maybe 24% installed then
the one that stopped me was a p1-15.wav file , the only option it gave was
a RETRY and a CANCEL well needless to say RETRY didn't work and CANCEL ,
well cancelled the installation , i tried microsoft website and couldn't find
much help.

Any suggestions? Could there be something wrong with the CD (scratch)? I was able to install it on one of the PCs about 6 months ago but then I deleted it because I needed the hard disk space and now it won't install on any PC I've tried.

Have you tried calling MS? They have free support for all of their PC Games.

I haven't tried to call them for this software yet....I spent so much time on long-distance hold with their customer service for Win XP Pro that I could have paid a tech to install it for me.

Do you think MicroSoft will replace a scratched MS Flight Simulator 2002 cd?

Hey I have had that same issue with a burned copy of Mech Warrior 4, there was some type of post for that same error message somewhere on the MS website. I was never able to get it to work with my W2k, but I did this last week buy Flight Sim 2002 Pro and it installed just fine. Sooryy I can't give you the exact area to find answers but ...nm Good Luck.

I noticed a major scratch on the CD. I wonder if that could be causing the problem?

I recieved FlightSim 2002 as a gift from Msoft and it totallly hosed my hardrive. I had to re install the OS. The game is a retail issue too. I did try and install it on a raid 0 array,so I thought that might be the problem. I will try another install on a standalone HDD to verify, but I am concerned that this is a common problem with flightsim 2002. It may be worth a call to Msoft.

tripleshot - I suspect you have aome kind of problem that is not related to FS2K2. I, and thousands of others, have been installing it and it's predicessors for years without problems.

Good luck as it is a fabulous sim - I have been at it for four years and am just a beginner.

Will Microsoft give me replacement CDs if I can convince them that the CDs were scratched and the retailer won't exchange them?
