I just got a brand new Dell E1505 laptop and a Verizon DSL package. The internet works when I have the laptop plugged into the router (It is the wireless router Verizon gave me. Westlink or something...I am not at home). Now when I try to connect wirelessly, I can see the network, appear to connect to it, but I can never get an ip address...thus no internet. Now I was trying to look for previous threads that could maybe help, but I am still a little weary on what to do. Thanks

Seeing signal in the Wireless configuration application or reading somewhere in the system that you are connected does not mean that you actually have a functional Wireless Network.

Assuming that your Wireless Client Card is installed correctly and it is On.

A simple way to ascertain that you have a connection is to try to use the Internet Browser in a Wireless Client computer and find out if you can connect to the Router's (Access Point) Menus (see your hardware manual for the Router's IP Address, the login name and the password).

If you can not connect to the Router this might help.

Wireless Basic Configuration - http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Config.html

Wireless Security - http://www.ezlan.net/Wireless_Security.html

Once the Wireless is actually connect and yet you can Not see the Network's Resources, then your problem is a Network's Sharing problem, and has nothing to do with the Wireless.

May be this can Help: http://www.ezlan.net/sharing.html

I figured it out. For some reason the Intel software didn't allow it to work, so I tried using the Windows config and it seems to be going good
