Dear All,

Need some advice on Windows Update - giving error whenever I attempt to update

I am using a Lenovo Thinkpad X200
Where Win7 was bundled together with this notebook.
I had recently restored it to factory settings with a clean windows format via thinkvantage.

Keeps telling me Error 80244018

I am puzzled. :-(

The FixIt tool says problem resolved, but I tried updating and it still didn't work, gonna try and reboot the PC now

I know if you computer battery goes dead and your BIOS resets the date to some random old date when the BIOS was first created, Windows Update will not work.

What update is not installing? I would laugh if it's the same one that I can't install.

I was merely trying to update any files since the last system restore back in 2011.
But it just won't let search for updates to install.
and pops the error in red.

Try this for this problem
:-
Press WIN+R keys on the keyboard to open the run command.

1-In the RUN type services.msc and click on OK.

2-Make sure Automatic Updates is set to automatic and

3-Background Intelligent Transfer Service is set to automatic.

----Follow this step too:----

1-Use the proxycfg -d command to get my Windows Update working
properly.

2-Cleare the IE cache and history as well as set all the IE zones to default
values.
3-Turn off the firewalls.😎
