Unable to display at 1680 x 1050

I have a Dell 2005FPW and am unable to use its native resolution after restarting my PC. The screen looks distorted and the max res I can use is 1600 x 900 in display properties. Anyone know of a work around for this?

use driver cleaner and start over?

change the monitor drivers to ensure the computer is using the right profile?

Yeah: manufacturer, model, drivers, interface (e.g. DVI or D-sub). All would be useful trouble-shooting info.
