Unable to delete without unlocking

I have been having a strange problem that when I want to delete/copy/cut and paste some files I get a message saying that it is in use by some other program. This even when I check with task manager and I find that it is not in use.

So I downloaded a program that is called unlocker and it unlocks all the 'locking handles' and I find that the file is often locked by explorer. So I unlock and then delete but this is a nuisance - any suggestion? I have checked for both spyware as well as viruses.

Everytime unlocker says that the file has been locked by windows explorer

Thanks

SpyBot Search & Destroy has a similar feature, for deleting files. If you want to delete files, you can drag and drop into its secure shredder.
Not sure if that helps or not, but it works for me when a file is "in use".

But all this is a nuisance. I never had this a few days ago. I dont want to have to jump thru rings to just delete a file

Yes. Mostly JPEGS, RAW etc. Bur its not occassional. It happens all the time and I have to use unlocker before deleting.

This sounds similar to the AVI "preview" issue that plagues/plagued Windows Explorer, so you may want to look into that issue.

Otherwise, run chkdsk to make sure your hard drive isn't having issues.
