Unable to delete printer in XP

I have a user who was experiencing problems printing to a certain printer on our network. I was able to get him printing by creating a new entry to the print server but the old entry will not delete. It simply sits there and says "deleting" underneath. I have restarted the system, bounced the spooler but still nothing. Is their any way to wipe out the old entry?

First thing I'd look to do which you might have tried but didn't say would be remove all the print jobs in that printer. Usually what happens is one print job gets messed up and the user doesn't think about removing it then they get stacked up, and the printer won't work and won't delete.

delete it from the registry, HKLM -> SYSTEM -> ControlSet001 ->
Control -> Print -> Environments -> Windows NT x86 -> Version -3

After all the jobs are confirmed gone you may need one more bounce of spool service and it should be gone.

There were no print jobs in the queue when it was deleted and the registry entry noted above is only for the driver, not the windows lisitng.

sorry, I misread your post. you can't delete the print job?. have you tried upgrading the driver or trying different drivers (ps, pcl, universal)?
