Hi,

After upgrading my vista home basic to ultimate (both in x64), i cant boot into windows. it will display an error message DISK BOOT FAILURE, PLEASE INSERT SYSTEM DISK, something like this.

However if i put my vista cd in the drive and reboot, it will detect the cd and will ask if i want to boot the cd. i choose not to because i want to boot into windows instead, and it will successfully boot windows.

summary; cant boot without cd in the drive, was ok in vista home

please help.

Let it boot from the DVD, it should get to a point where it gives repair options, and it will likely tell you that your BCD is corrupt and ask if you would like to fix it.
