I have been trying to reinstall SuSE 7.1 on my new system. It has an ASUS A7V133 mb with an Athlon 1.33 and 2 hard drives on the onboard Promise ATA100 controller...one on the primary, one on the secondary, both masters...the other IDE channels have CDROMS and a zip. LILO will not load. I know there is a problem getting it to load with the ReiserFS so I used Ext2 and still no boot, just a black screen...anybody have any ideas? It says that the Promise controller is supported.

are u sure suse has drivers for your ATA100 controller? when i installed mandrake 8 on my Highpoin HT366, it didnt have drivers. so i had to install to the regular ide controller, recompile the kernel with support, edit lilo.conf and fstab, than restart to the new kernel with the drive on the HT366 controller.

try installing it on the normal IDE controllers. compiling support in the kernel. edit those files. switch back to ATA100 controller and it should boot.

No, I am not using the RAID setup. I do have the hard disks on the ATA 100 controller. I could understand if it wasn't supported, but why would it recognize all the disks during install then?
SuSE says on its website that the RAID controller is not supported...does that mean the controller itself or just the RAID aspect of it?

I will expand on this question...does anyone know if any distro supports this mainboard out-of-the-box??
