Unable to boot computer

Hi all. Need some help here. My computer displays a blue screen after bios boot up section. Once it gets to the window XP boot screen it changes to a blue screen and says:


A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this "stop error screen", restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Disable or uninstall any anti-virus, disk defragmentation or backup utilities. Check your hard drive configuration, and check for any updated drivers. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer.

Now i have tried rebooting after disabling my anti-virus program and it still doesn't work same thing happeneds. I have also tried to reinstall windows again but same thing happens. It doesn't let me get passed this blue screen. If anyone else out there having the same problem as me please give me some tips on how to fix this.

hey, I had the exact same problem. I kinda stumbled onto the solution... I discovered I had bad memory. In fact, I had the exact same memory as you do now. The problem dissapeared after I replaced the samsung with corsair.

Are u serious?? I can't believe its the RAM. U had the exact same blue screen as me?? Well i'm off to get my RAM checked i'll be back in an hour. Thanks for the tip.

Well i just got back from the shop and they told me the RAM was working fine. So now i'm back to square 1. I've tried to boot in safe mode but it still does the same thing, takes me right back to the blue screen. I'm not sure what else to do. I've thought about reformating my harddrive but how can i if it doesn't even let me boot up on cd,or any other way i know of. I can't get to the option to do it. Please if anyone has an answer for me get back to me as soon as possible. THANKS

Hi,

I had a problem similar to yours and again it was bad memory. I had a different brand of memory Mushkin. But this tips apply to most of the different brands of ram. Look at this from the Mushkin site:

ASUS A7V333: VIA KT333 chipset (VIA website)

We have qualified the ASUS A7V333 as a representative board of the VIA KT333 chipset-based mainboards. Since the board supports DDR 333 (PC2700) we recommend using high end memory only, that is, either PC2700 or Level2 (222) PC2100.
USER TIPS: The default memory voltage of jthe A7V333 is out of spec which causes DDR DIMMs to run hot and eventually fail. The voltage can be adjusted by moving the undocumented jumpers JP1 and JP2 to close 1-2 or else remove both jumpers completely. We found the following voltages when measuring directly at the DIMM slots:

ii 2.59 - 2.63V (same with one or both jumpers removed completely)
i! 2.78 - 2.83V (default setting, out of spec according to JEDEC guidelines
!i 2.88 - 2.94V
!! 2.95 - 3.06V

The latter two settings are almost guaranteed to destroy the memory modules. We found that by reducing the voltage from default to the lowest setting, we were able to achieve approximately 3% system performance increase (not in SiSoft Memory benchmark, though but in real applications)

We found that running the memory bus asynchronous at 166 MHz with the FSB does not overall increase system performance because of the higher latencies and the buffers required for synchronization of memory and FSB. Many of the boards exhibit some problems when DIMM Slots 1 and 2 are populated simultaneously. Moving the DIMMs to slots 1 and 3 usually solves these issues.

RECOMMENDED DIMMS:
512MB High Performance Level2
256 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM
512 MB PC2700 DDR SDRAM

I have tried before browsing Samsung website, but they don't provide a lot of information. Try to return your ram.

Hey thanks for the tips guys but it turns out that my RAM work just fine. I've decided to use fdisk and erase everything i have. I just installed windows XP again and it is working perfectly fine now. Not sure what the problem was but i'm just glad to have thinks back to normal. Oh by the way r u guys running ECC RAM or just regular RAM? Well thanks again guys hope to talk to y'all later.......
