Unable to Adjust Overscan to Eliminate Black Borders

I have a new Hanns·G HH-241HPB LCD Monitor. The native resolution is 1920 x 1080. When I connect it to my x86 Vista Home Premium laptop via the VGA port, I am not able to set the overscan/underscan options in the NVIDIA Control Panel for this monitor, I am only able to do so for the laptop's display. The monitor's correct native resolution is detected, however. My laptop has NVIDIA GeForce 9100M G integrated graphics and I have the latest drivers installed.

so VGA is pretty much 1:1, you can't do overscan/underscan for it. I would play with scaling options (display, no scaling -> this one should work, nvidia scaling). If it doesn'twork i would try some lower resolution such as 1680x1050

Thanks... I had been trying those scaling options you mentioned and was only able to access them for the laptop display. I have also been trying lower resolutions. 1680 x 1050 sets the image snug vertically but equal borders remain on sides. I reseated VGA cable and lost access to 1920 x 1080. Strange. Perhaps I should try uninstalling/reinstalling graphics drivers.

EDIT: I have also tried adjusting image position with the monitor's on board controls to no avail.

Thanks.. I had tried that, too...

So, Success! After reinstalling drivers 1920 x 1080 was automatically detected, the screen flashed and voila... all is good. lol, I really need to find the time to do a fresh install of Win7 on this thing.

That doesn't make sense. ATI cards always used to have overscan/underscan/centering controls for the VGA output.
