Where is the option for enabling Cross Fire ?
I am trying to enable Hybrid cross fire between 890 Chipset (ATi HD 4290) + 5450
However I am unable to see that option
I have set the Bios with following setting
Internal Graphics Mode = UMA + Side port
UMA Buffer Size = 512 MB
Surround View = Disable
Init Display First = On Chip VGA
Windows XP SP3 see both Devices

I cannot find the place where I can enable Cross Fire Option
DeviceManager.jpg

GPU can see both Devices

You can't crossfire those, AFAIK. They have to be the same GPU. You can hybrid crossfire a 5870/5850 or 5770/5750, or 5970/5870, for example.

Read your motherboard manual, page 5-4 and onward.

You need Surround View enabled in the BIOS.

I'm guessing that when your computer detects a discrete video card without Surround View enabled then it just automatically shuts off or ignores the onboard video.

According to Manual I suppose to disable it and plug the Monitor to on board Video Card
Which I have done it

Matter of fact it disable the discrete video card !

Ah I looked up a random Asus 890GX motherboard manual and it says to enable surround view.

Well you're just going to have to play around with it.

1) Disable surround, make sure monitor is connected to the 4290.
2) Enable surround and connect monitor to 4290.
3) Disable surround and connect monitor to 5450
4) Enable surround and connect monitor to 5450

Change which you have Initialize first (onboard vs. PCI) for all of these tests.

I got email from Gigabyte
Hi,

After verifying the Hybrid CrossfireX with our HQ and ATI, as conclusion Hybrid CrossfireX is not available in WindowsXP – only Vista and Windows7. Hybrid CrossfireX requires DX10 or higher for improving performance. WindowsXP supports up to DX9, and thus the Catalyst driver will automatically disable Hybrid CrossfireX.
