Unable To Activate AOL Active Virus Shield

After installing AOL Active Virus Shield I copy and paste the activate code and the
next button is greyed out.

Most likely you have already tried typing it in, or download it again and they will email you another key code.

You could also try two things:

1): Click on Help, About .. see if it shows as already registered / licensed

2): If it does not, then do a complete Uninstall, including any Reg Keys or
files it may have left behind .. Reboot, then Reinstall and try to reenter your
key ... see if that helps.

One other well known problem is caused when the XP owner page is still on the default owner---just go to start--control panel--double click system---it should show
which version of windows you have and who its registered to--if it shows registered to owner--you have to go into the registry and change it to anything but owner.
Can't remember precisely how to do it---but just google registered owners page for instructions.

But if your registered owners page still says owner---100% guaranteed---AOL won't install and you will get that greying out exact symptom.

It must be this. I haven't changed owner status since I installed.

That is really weird. Why wouldn't they fix that? So this is a common problem? Well I will try it.

If you're already planning to avoid risky stuff (warez and such), and still want top-notch protection to the point where you have to ask about the difference between AOL Kaspersky, NOD32 or KAV6, then be aware of the benefits of SRP and using a non-Admin user account for daily-driver stuff like Internet browsing, IM, email and media playback.
