Unable to access Lotus Notes via TCP/IP after i just got a cable modem installed today

Howdy All, Here's an interesting question.

For work, i use a dial-up to my company on my Win98 box and then use Lotus Notes 4.5 to connect to my work e-mail, etc.. Lotus Notes uses the tcp/ip associated with my modem to find the work host.

Today, @home stopped on by and i got a cable modem installed. Now, with my permanent connection active, Lotus Notes appears does not find my work server anymore, even though the dial-up aspect works just fine.

It's quite obvious that Lotus Notes is using the WRONG TCP/IP to get out (i.e. it's using the one associated with my network card).

I already tried dialing-up w/out the cable modem attached, but it still does not work. If i was running win2k, i could prolly just disable the external net interface temporarily to use my work stuff, but running 98 does not give me much in the way of options.

so any ideas on how i could force Lotus Notes to default to the dial-up tcp/ip first? I did not see any options for such in the Lotus Notes menus.

did try to unbind tcp/ip for the NIC?

Basically it sounds like you need to make the switch from a dialup RAS connection to a VPN RAS connection. Talk to the IT people at your company, they should be able to hook you up with the configuration details. Then you can ditch the Modem altogether. If you just need to get it working right now, disable the network card in device manager.

You should be able to just disable your NIC in the system properties.
