Unable to access cable modem through router

I have a SMC Barricade SMC7004ABR Router, and a RCA DCM225 Cable modem. It works fine when I access it directly through the cable modem, but when I try to hook it up to the router, it won't work. I haven't had broadband in a while, so I've basically forgot everything on how to share an internet connection. This is also a new router, so I don't know how to use it that well. Can someone show me how I can share the connection/access the modem through the router? Thanks.
 
you'd probably have better luck gettin help in the Network Forum.....but you have to setup router first.....heres a link to the online quick install quide, best off reading this, or better yet manual if ya have one, first, then come back with any questions you may have........
