The White House said Monday it was "deeply troubled" by Israel's assassination of Yassin.

"We are deeply troubled by this morning's actions in Gaza," White House Scott McClellan said.

Earlier Monday, the United States denied it had given the green light to Israel to kill Yassin and appealed for calm in the region following the assassination.

The European Union and other countries condemned Israel's killing of Yassin as a violation of international law that has further "inflamed" tensions in the Middle East.
Israel "violated international law". How dare they actually take out the bastard who has killed thousands of their civillians, and was trying to kill thousands more! Doesn't Israel know already that they are just supposed to sit there and take it?! It is NO DIFFERENT than the US going after Bin Laden. The blatant, in-your-face double standard is astounding.

They'll meet and decide nothing, except to meet again. And thats the way the UN works...

I would give one huge less of a sh!t what Israel does if they would turn down our foreign aid.

Heh...what did you expect? Things have been like this ever since the USSR collapsed (at the very least). One set of rules/rights for the US, another set for the rest of the work. This is what happens when there is only one superpower around. With the USSR gone the balanced has been out of wack so to speak. Nothing to counter the US in terms of power.

Now, personally, I feel that killing the man was a foolish mistake. Would have been better to isolate him by putting him under house arrest or stuff him in a nice little cell for him to spew his propaganda in without anyone having to listen to him. Killing him will only help perpetuate the cycle of violance. Not to mention the fuvkwad is now a martyr for all the extremists to chant and blow things/themselves up over. All in all, it was a mistake, and both sides will now have the blood of their children on their hands once $hit hits the fan, as it always does when people want revange.

Oh well, people never learn, now do they? Killing never solves anything, for everyone you kill (doesn't matter if it's a bad guy or good guy) there will always be someone screaming bloody murder and wanting revange. Also, one thing people like Sharon dont seem to get, is that it doesn't matter to the families of the dead (mainly talking about bystanders that have died as a result of actions like this) if you ment to kill their loved ones or not, they'll want your head on a pike whether you ment to or not.

I honestly don't see this ending anytime in the near future, and it won't untill both sides stop blaming each other for who started what first. As long as this pathetic blame game goes on nothing will change.

IIRC it was Richard Boucher of the State Department which said that, not Scott McClellan. The news broadcast I remember pointed out the divergent views expressed by the White House v. the State Dept. Am I remebering incorrectly?

what is the UN going to do?

make a speech and nothing, the usual M.O. the UN is impotent, it seems everyone knows it but the UN and the leftists of various countries.
