UN Human Rights Commission is Joke

The U.S. was voted off of the Human Rights Commission. OK. No big deal I thought... Until I read a list of some of the countries that replaced America this time around:

Sudan - Where slavery is still legal. Woohoo!
Pakistan - Not Muslim? Now you die, pesky western tourist!
Croatia, Armenia, Sierra Leone - Do I even need to bother?

Now let me just say that I support the overall objective of the UN: to bring people together, and to solve disputes. However, some of their tools are just totally blunt. Something like a human rights comission is doomed from the start: it has to be democratically elected, but when it is democratically elected, it's not going to be very useful because - other than the U.S. and a few European countries - nobody gives a flying fvck about human rights abuses.

This "Human Rights Commission" - intentionally packed with some of the worst human rights abusers in the world - will do more harm than good.

I can imagine them demanding economic sanctions against the U.S. for "Not allowing a human's natural right slavery". As disturbing as that might be, it would be kind of funny 🙂
