good idea, guys!

honestly, can they do anything right up there in new york? the US should focus on a western democracy group rather than on the UN.

is this what the league of nations looked like in 1936 with italy invading libya and vetoing every motion against it?

Iran doesn't have nuclear arms. What's the issue? We should be more worried about US plans for NEW nuclear warheads.

Shhhhhh......don't let the facts get in the way of the hyperbole.

Iraq..er....Iran is a danger that needs to be dealt with now. "We don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud."®

Description of Red Herring

A Red Herring is a fallacy in which an irrelevant topic is presented in order to divert attention from the original issue. The basic idea is to "win" an argument by leading attention away from the argument and to another topic. This sort of "reasoning" has the following form:

1. Topic A is under discussion.
2. Topic B is introduced under the guise of being relevant to topic A (when topic B is actually not relevant to topic A).
3. Topic A is abandoned.

This sort of "reasoning" is fallacious because merely changing the topic of discussion hardly counts as an argument against a claim.

edit: oops..confusing my UN/Iran threads ;)

Same thing applies. The assumption that Iran has nuclear weapons, which it doesn't.

I dont think Iran refusing western help on uranium enrichment and believing they are firing up a nuclear weapons program is exaggeration. Especially when you tie it in with the recent ravings of their president and his apparent goals of wiping the ME off the face of the earth.

Wiping the "ME" off the face of the earth? Show me where he said that.

Explain to me what you think will happen when he carries out his state goal of wiping Israel off the face of the earth?

This might require something that probably waved bye bye to you long ago called "thinking".

Interesting article on the whole wipe off the face of the earth thing, and the holocast statement

There is some question about whether the English idiom "wiped off the map" accurately corresponds to what Ahmadinejad said in Farsi. Juan Cole, University of Michigan Professor of Modern Middle East and South Asian History translates the Farsi phrase as "vanished", claiming an "inaccurate translation ["wiped off the map"] has now become a tag line for all newspaper articles written about Iran in Western newspapers".[4] MEMRI, a translation service founded in part by former members of Israel's intelligence services, translates the sentence as 'This regime that is occupying Qods [Jerusalem] must be eliminated from the pages of history' [5]

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Israel

Iran IS part of the middle east genius!

Now look at this map of the middle east and tell me how "nuking Israel off the map" means "nuking ME off the map".

Am I being an too fussy about subtleties? No, because this is precisely the kind of distortions and stretches that lead to you-know-what.

And in case you don't know how to reply to this post, you can always pick on my handle. It's the easy way out.

More out of context BS coming from US media to fearmonger us into falling for another PNAC invasion scam. Wonderful.

The Iranian President meant:

Israel does not have a right to exist. The zionist regime must fall.

He never meant "blow up the country of Israel or destroy the country of Israel"

In many of his speeches he keeps calling for Jews to unite with Muslims in the campaign against zionist.

I don't even know why the media and people are blabbering about what the Iranian President said or didn't say.

he has no military power and he is not in charge of Iran.

There are far worse people inside Iran IMO.
