UN begins drafting Iraq aid plan

Fvck the U.N!! You don't want to help us take out the bad guys then you don't get to help in the rebuilding.

I'd rather they take over the whole darn thing. Then if something screws up it won't be automatically blamed on Bush

You do realize that rebuilding IRAQ by ourselves is almost impossible right? We aren't that experienced in humanitarian missions and nation building. The UN has been doing that for 50 years.

Britain has already said it wants the UN to do the job of rebuilding.
It also helps the US and Britain credibility in the world community if they choose this route.

HAHA, you think the US is really going to have any NGOs/non-profits help in rebuilding?? Its all about the private contractors/contributors baby! To the victor goes the spoils...

I say only Coalition Member Countries should be allowed to enjoy the spoils of this war! Meaning, as soon as a stable, democratic government has been establised, we allow US, British, Spanish, etc. companies to invest in Iraq.

What an oxymoron

A democratic country that WE run. A democracy that is ruled by another country is no democracy

If you thought about this you would want to pass the buck, or at least mitigate the negatives of invasion by bringing in the UN. This is going to be such a headache for those involved.

This needs to be said a few more times so more people will be able to read it.

well said,
not to mention from economic point of view, the company that will bring the best offer to the table will get the job, regardless the nationality. Free market is a beautiful thing

Assuming there will be a sovereign democratic govt in place, companies with the best offers will get the jobs. If French/Russies of whoever come and say they want to buy oil for 5 bucks a barrel more than us, they will get the contract.
