it's a week 22 factory unlocked 600mhz chip. i set the voltage to 1.85 on my MSI K7T Pro2A, and put the multiplier to 8. doesn't boot, so i set it to 7.5 and the fsb to 109(817 mhz effectivly) and it boots! can someone explain this to me? i think that my memory is limiting my fsb going any higher, but why won't the duron boot at 800 or 850, but it will at 817?

there seems to be some problem with the multiplier setting on the MSI K7Tpro2-A .. I'm guessing that's what you've run into

toph99 - when I first started OC'ing my duron 700 on the Pro2-A last weekend, I found that it wouldn't go to a 9.5 multiplier or higher. I'm thinking I may need to re-do the bridges (they're done with loctite but probably need some work). I've left it to burn in this past week. I did see a similar post to yours and the person re-did the bridges and that fixed it. Even though yours is factory unlocked, you may need to go over them with a pencil to make sure. Seems I'm hearing from other folks that the Pro2-A may be sensitive to the volts going across the bridges and need a good solid bridge, whereas other mobos can do with less...

And with that Pro2-A, you really can't go too much higher with the FSB anyway... I'm running at 105 x 9 (945) and got it booting to 107 x 9 (for 963, but not stable with seti).

The newer KT133A chipset supposedly truly supports the 133 FSB.

toph99,

Try running your FSB at 100, 1.85v, then see how high you can go with that UNlocked Duron 600. Neither of mine liked much FSB. The first one came locked. The 2nd was UNlocked. Both are on Abit KT7 MB. 10x100, at 1.85v.
