ummm HELP!!...why don't these match? mobo 2-pin Power LED != case 3-pin connector

I've built many computers and have noticed the same problem...

The 9 pins on every mobo for case switches/leds always allocate 2 pins to the power LED. Yet the cases always seem to have their power LED connector fit THREE pins!

What is up with this???? :|

sweet, i had this question too..

also, the labels on the connectors are supposed to be facing the closer edge of the motherboard?

The 3-pin LED connector is a leftover from the pre-ATX days. Most case manufacturers should have changed that by now, but apparently some still haven't.

There is no norm as to what goes where and with what orientation. RTFM. :)
