VIVO stands for Video In/Video Out, right?? what signal does this use, is it NTSC or am I completly off. I've only heard VIVO on Nvidia cards, are they the only ones?? Who else makes them and 'whos the best' (I know everone asks this question).

So Vivo will let me put DVD to TV but also VCR to PC, right?

Thanks yo,
Kevin

Uses NTSC (standard composite or s-video) if you live in North America.

Most people (including me, FWIW) say ATi cards have the best VIVO capabilities. Nvidia is generally poor quality in comparison.

Right.

I would agree except that I cant get my AIW Radeon to work....the stupid software doesnt work after installing DX8 and the update, after flashing the bios, updating the via 4in1's and talking to ATI for a good 8 hours...not to mention it took 2 weeks to get the card to boot. I am just looking for other options, if you know what I mean.

That sucks. I'm guessing you downloaded and installed the latest drivers from ATi along with the new version of their Multimedia Center and DVD player?

What OS? Did you start from scratch? I've had trouble sometimes getting their cards to work without a clean install of the OS (which sucks royally). I usually follow this procedure -

1. Back up my data (again)
2. Format the OS partition
3. Install the OS
4. Install any mobo drivers (4-in-1's or what have you)
5. Install DirectX 8a
6. Install DirectX digital video update
7. Install downloaded ATi drivers
8. Install downloaded MMC
9. Install downloaded DVD player

You could "Ghost" your hard drive after step 6 so you can go back to it if you have to. Notice that at no time whatsover is any software installed from the ATi CD. The only thing it is good for is for the serial number for the DVD software.

Good luck!

Wow, I install win2k about 30 times in the last 15 months, that sucks, I am trying RAID and the performance isnt helping me that much so I was thinking of getting away from it. The problem is that I have until thursday to return the card if it doesnt work, I dont have enough time to reformat to test it. And yea, I updated everything, ATI says its because of overlay, whatever that is, it doesnt work.
