umm is this guy stupid?

I know this 36 year old who has a digital camera.

He drives to Walmart to hand deliver the memory card to get pictures developed.

He refuses to order online, because he's farily certain the images would turn out a little worse. Loss of data, not much but probably a little bit. And he wants the best possible picture developed.

If he doesn't have broadband, he's stupid.

Where do you live? I want to drive to your house and hand deliver this reply to you. The quality will be much better.

I highly doubt that.

So he has a valid concern?

The pictures might turn out a little worse?

I would have never guessed that.

You are a tard. Nobody in this thread mentioned they would turn out better or worse. The point everyone is trying to make is that you get them faster.

Maybe he wants instant gratification? That's why I drive to the store for prints.

You can upload them to Walmart and then pick them up in your local store when you out.... The point here is he think uploaded images lose quality vs delivering the card directly to the pimply faced kid at the photo counter.

Clearly he's wrong, but it's nice of you to try to defend a complete stranger only because Ferocious posted the opposing point of view 😉

i get my digiprints from winkflash.com.
i've seen prints from walmart and the winkflash prints are better quality and less expensive. plus it only takes about 3 days for them to show in my mailbox.

If you use Walmart online photo center the maximum file size is 6MB per image. This means you can not upload tiffs until they are heavily compressed with lossy jpeg. If you are already using lossy compression and having them develeoped at Walmart than you obviously don't give a damn about IQ.

Also 200MB (40 6MP jpeg images) will take over 2 hours to upload with the 256kb/s cap commonly used in the US.

Walmart photo sucks. I've been there twice in the last week - never again.

I wanted 5x7's of 4 pics. Could I get one 5x7 of each? No. They expected me to pay for one 8x10 sheet for each of 4 pics, instead of putting two pics on one page. Needless to say, that didn't happen.

i got pictures developed at wal-mart, they had a large stripe down every single image. Don't know how their digital prints are.
