I know it IS legal, because Costco does it.

The question is, can anybody do it.. or do you need some special liscense from the post office.

edit: this is what I had in mind stamp guys

ps: please don't try to order any this site is not legal yet 😉

ok the real question on my mind: if it does turn out to be illegal and i get caught how much trouble will i be in? I imagine they would just shut me down and want to collect any taxes i should have paid (and i shouldn't have to pay any because i am not making any money - in fact i am losing money)..

When I was doing accounting work at the supermarket I worked in, we ordered stamps to resell for list price. We paid full price..sold for full price. I don't recall any fees we had to pay. Before we ordered them, we actually went next door to the post office and bought books by the hundred..no paperwork or anything.

Thank you that is what I wanted to hear. I can't imagine it would be much different than selling currency -- since that is essentially what it is.

I can't wait to see the look on the cashier's face at Costco when I order $10,000 worth of stamps 😉

That's a lot of stamps, and wouldn't it suck if the postage went up again 😛

i'd be careful about selling them for lower than face value. that may be the only thing that's illegal about it.

Postage has this bad tendency to go up. I suggest buying a few hundred at a time. Seriously, are you going to go through that many?

At the supermarket I worked at (Publix), we usually ordered $1480 in stamps (200 books)..it would last a week, maybe two. Buy them from a post office, so you can get how many you need - if something doesn't work out, what are you going to do with thousands of $$ worth of stamps?

I cannot imagine why there would be anything wrong with selling stamps.

Whatever you do, buy only the absolute minimum you need to fill existing orders. You cannot return stamps to the USPS for a refund. I think it's a clever idea, but I don't think it will be very popular.

no money is made. but not much money is lost.

what is does do is provide more revenue and free advertising for my computer site.

you know how dell sells all their computers below cost to get revenue up at the end of the quarter?

or how costco sells stamps for 25 cents off and even though they take that 25 cent hit it increases their revenue.

banks look at too things -- revenue and profits

if you are trying to start a big business -- revenue is really important even if you are not making much or any profit.

how many years did it take amazon to become profitable? if they even are profitable yet??
anyways that is the idea. i need to make more revenue to qualify for bigger loans etc.

as much as i love computers and postage my real passion is real estate and that is one area having a lot of revenue will really help me get the loans i want 😉

you can't return them to usps.. but as i recall costco has a pretty liberal return policy 😉

but i was joking about order $10,000 at once. well, a little bit anyways. if i can sell that many i'll order that many but like i said the site will not even be operational for another couple weeks.

we'll probably eventually sell scales and other stuff to make a profit by the way 😉

Since us real computer enthusiasts know that AMD is far better than Intel we use the brand new Socket 939 AMD Athlon 64 based chips.

Eh.. 😕

Whether that is true or not, you really shouldn't alienate your customers by saying things like that.
