Wait a minute ...

she got $6,000 for a 15th place finish in the "XM Satellite Radio Indy 200", yet got only $3,700 for a 4th place finish at the Indy 500?

WTF

I'm just confused. How does Rahal/Letterman make any money off of this? Even with sponorships, I just don't get it.

Sponorships pay for the most of the cost.

I thought the Indy 500 was to the IRL as the Masters was to the PGA

And yet, you have a race sponsored by a satellite radio provider and that pays out more?

Well, it also has under the season standings that she's had 4 starts, and has won $196,400 so far. So I'm not quite sure what's those figures are.

Was going to say - no matter what she's paid in racing....she's HOT and competing in a testosterone-laden sport.

Any product she chooses to endorse or TV show she wants to star in is going to get a lot of attention, and that means good money.

(Seriously, could you see a 'Monster Garage'-like show with her in it? Yeah...it could SUCK, but people would still watch!)

In just about any form of motorsport these days, the winnings won't cover a fraction of the cost to go racing.

As for what the drivers win, they get a portion of it, usually determined when they sign their driver's contract - a percentage. The rest goes to the team. It's most likely different for every driver.
