UMK3 for XBLA

Did anyone else get this? Some of the moves are impossible for me to pull off. It seems like they really jacked the controls in this game.

Scorpion's spear move is block block LP but i haven't gotten it to work one single time.

Anyone else have this problem?

I've given up on fighting games on the 360 until I can sneak an arcade stick into the house. I love the 360 controller but it just isn't made for fighting games.

Exactly. Actually the ONLY controller I've felt comfortable with is the original XBox controller (Duke). I need a 6 botton configuration dammit (3 button punch row, 3 button kick row)!

Are there any XBox to 360 controller adapters?

I'm curious, do you want an "arcade stick" for a better button layout (2 rows of 3?) or the different stick itself? I've never been able to get used to the full-hand grip for fighting games at the arcade, it always feels sluggish to me compared to only moving my thumb.

Then again, I've never been able to regularly justify pumping quarters into an arcade machine so I suppose I've never given the arcade-style control much of a chance.

Both. I did OK with the controllers for the Dreamcast and original Xbox for fighting games. The 360 controller just...just doesn't work right. And, there aren't any quality 3rd party gamepads out because of MS's proprietary wireless technology.

Well to do Scorpion's spear it is just block block low punch. Three button pushes. Never got it to work 1 single time. It seems more like the game coding than the joystick.

I bought both SF2 and MK3 on XBLA...it really is just a crappy dpad on the 360 controller. I can't bear to try playing it anymore on that POS. Even the normal XBox controller wasn't any better. (SF2) The Duke controller for the 360 - now that was horrendous. (The curvatures that feel like hard mini boobs)

I have the DoA arcade fighting stick for the 360.

And it is useless for UMK3, because they don't allow you to remap the buttons. It defaults to a button layout that is pointless, just mixed up. If you haven't purchased UMK3 from XBLA, just don't. I don't recommend it. As one of the other posters said, the D-pad is worthless on the regular 360 controllers. They screwed this one up.

I'd like to meet the person who designed the retarded circular d-pad. I'd like to meet him and punch him square in the balls.

lol dude.

scorpions spear is not block block lowpunch ...

it's BACK BACK lowpunch (as in back on the Dpad - opposite of which way you are facing, not the back button next to the guide button)

no wonder you can't do the move ...

EDIT:

also, MK2 on PSN is 10000x better than UMK3 on the XBLM 😛

also ... my Xbox360 controller solution 🙂

Rofl. I was looking at the moves and it said BK BK LP. I thought that was block for some reason it never occured to me that it could be BACK.
