Umbra - CryEngine Diablo knockoff

Certainly looks good, videos give me hope and people are certainly bandwagoning on the kickstarter already...

Tempted to pitch in for the $25 USD level for beta access to see how it shapes up early on.

If it's anything like Grim Dawn... bargain at that price but as ever, kickstarter is a gamble 🙂

im done backing kickstarters. If it comes out and has good reviews I'll buy. Lost ark is looking good too btw.

visually much better than d3, if the gameplay is better too then i'd give it a spin. d3 was a disappointment

I remember when they started working on this on CryDev...seems like it was several years ago. They should have a very good start by now.

Looks were an insignificant part of Diablo, Diablo 2 and LOD. Gameplay was everything to their success and will be the ultimate factor to any real Diablo successor.

I like D3 much better with the LOD expansion, the adventure modes, and the elimination of the Auction House. I would agree, if the graphics were better, it would not really change my evaluation of the game very much.

D3's graphics are fantastic.

Just because it doesn't have parralax occlusion displacement mapping or whatever like these newer games.

D3's art direction is still leagues beyond. Everything fits together. The world is cohesive. And it runs great on weak hardware, I bet these new games require tons of VRAM and stuff.

D3 sucked at launch badly - it wasn't Diablo game at all. It was some warcraft hybrid. Expansion has helped; but if you need an expansion to actually feel like Diablo; then you've failed.

DII wasn't as bad - though still didn't feel like Diablo until late act I.

Diablo - the original still has the best feeling out of the games; the atmophere; music...the fact all the game wants to do from the beginning is kill you. Doesn't want to talk; hold hands etc.....straight up kill you. Loved that about Diablo; still one of my all time favorite games.

This I'll check out

Meh. Everything in this genre has limited interest to me at best. Eventually they almost all devolve into "hold m1, get loot, repeat". I think too much attention is given to shiny loot and not enough to "how do we make this fun to play, long term".

I will say that playing Diablo 3 on a controller on ps4 felt a lot better than clicking the mouse button a billion times. It just felt more fluid to me.

I found it a lot harder to aim beam weapons. You cannot select a monster to shoot as easily as you can with a mouse. And I do not find me clicking that much, click and hold on monster till dead or I switch spells.

Yeah Diablo I is still by far my fave. Would love to see it remastered with a few known issues fixed. Playing it these days means having it in a TINY window.

Just updating that this has reached its KS goal, and there's still 11 days remaining (I'm not sure exactly when the goal was reached).
