OK, I have a Umax 3400 scanner and here is the situation:

Windows 2000 keeps finding "USB Scanner" but cannot install the driver because the following message keeps coming up: "The system cannot find the file specified" . . . the only option the device driver wizard gives me is "finish" so I do and the whole process keeps repeating until I say "No" to "do you want to install the driver for usb scanner." The driver it is trying to find is "3400sq.inf" which is I know is present. There is an exclamation point on the scanner in device manager, but after I do this little sequence described above, and I run vista access, everything works! But their is still the exclamation point and any time I reboot or log off and on again I have to go through the above process. I have vista375 installed which I downloaded from the umax site, which is their newest version. I've also tried connecting the scanner directly to the motherboard and through a powered hub. The scanner works fine after going through the process just described, it's just that win2k can't find/install the driver correctly. It actually works without a driver being present. Please help if you can!

Thanks!
