Q:Is Win2000 supported on the scanners intended for home use?

A:Windows 2000 Support for UMAX Consumer Scanners

UMAX will not support Windows 2000 on older model consumer scanners prior to the Astra 2000 series. All new model, Astra 3400, Astra 3420, Astra 3450, Astra 3470, Astra 6400, and the Astra 6450 will be supported on Windows 2000.

The Astra 1600U, Astra 2000U, Astra 2100U and the Astra 2200 (as USB), and 4000U scanners were released prior to Windows 2000. All of these models, except for the 4000U, have an updater that can be loaded from the web, that will work on Windows 2000. The updater, when used with the 4000U, was too erratic. So we are still working on a driver for the 4000U and Windows 2000U.

The Astra 2000P, 2200 (as SCSI), 2400S, and 2400SLT can work on Windows under their current driver as long as the system is formatted FAT32. UMAX suggests a custom install of the 3.5.x driver while deselecting Magic Match.

Related Astra software for Windows 2000:

VistaScan 3.7x for Astra 3400, Astra 3420, Astra 3450, Astra 3470 VistaScan 3.7.2 Astra 6400, Astra 6450 VistaScan 3.51S for Astra 2400S, Astra 2400SLT and Astra 2200 (SCSI only) VistaScan 3.51/3.52P for Astra 2000P

The UMAX UC, Vista, Gemini, and Astra 300, 600, 610, 1200, 1210, and 1220 scanners are not supported for Windows 2000, and no drivers are currently in the works.

Note: VistaScan 3.5x needs to be installed as a custom installation, with the MagicMatch Profiles deselected.

Question... For the pricematch thing do I call in my order and tell them about it or can I just use the e-mail pricematch form on their site? Will they still pricematch the item even if I use a coupon? First time ordering from staples for me. :)

I would call staples to place the order. Tell them the item number first and ask them if they have it in stock first. If they say yes, then ask for the price match. After they okay the pricematch, then ask to use the coupon. If they ask you where you got the coupon, say you got it either from an email or a letter from staples. They allow you to use both the price match and coupon.

I don't know if it's a staples policy or what but sometimes I ask them to pricematch something without first asking if it's in stock and they tell me it's out of stock. Staples.com has got to be the worst operated etailer around. Their policies are so inconsistent. Their inventory is all screwy. You never know if you'll receive your order or not. I cross my fingers everytime I place an order. Am I the only one who feels this way?

Just curious, but has anyone been succcessful with this?

I called Staples today with dreams of pricematching and busting out the coupon codes...but I got SHOT DOWN on the pricematch!

I told the CSR that I wanted to pricematch with Onvia.com at $59.99 and he made me a hold for quite some time. When he finally came back, he said that he could only pricewatch at $69.94. I asked why, and he said that Staples orders automatically include a one-year warranty, while Onvia has an optional one-year warranty plan for $9.95....so he just added the $9.95 to the price. What the heck?! I couldnt get past the pricewatch!!!

Right now I'm a little disillusioned, but I noticed that Insight.com has the scanner for around $58-$59 as well, but it doesnt say anything about a warrantee. Sooo has anyone had any luck with pricewatching with either site??? And has anyone ever heard the warrantee excuse when pricematching with Onvia?!

what a bunch of bs from staples. That just doesn't make any sense. So they want to charge you a one-year warranty that the manufacturer already covers?? What a load of bs.. Then they have to tack on the warranty charge for every product you pricematch because no other places have such a ridiculous policy. I think you should just call staples again and try another csr. Half of them are smoking crack anyway. I think instead of coffee, they serve crack to their csr. I don't think they give any training to their csr's otherwise they wouldn't have such inconsistencies.
